My favorite character costume

Everyone has their own favorite character that they love, right? There was a time when I prepared costumes for such characters, even prepared hair and makeup, and cosplayed, but if I took a picture of them, it would have been disappointing that the atmosphere of the characters in the work we had seen didn't live up to the same level as the characters in the work. This class is designed for those who have experienced such disappointment.

Hello everyone:) I'm “Pion” who is working domestically and internationally as a cosplay model and photo retoucher in the 8th year, and “Wawa” is a cosplayer in the 10th year and is working as a model and photographer. I would like to share with you all about cosplay photography through the know-how of cosplayers with 18 years of experience.

How to turn fantasies into reality

From an unrestricted camera angle, to a variety of productions using color filters, beam projectors, smoke machines, water curtains, etc., and retouching and compositing to add a dramatic feel, cosplay photography also comes as a surrealist work activity that leaves the canvas and uses a camera. In this curriculum, I'm going to show you all the steps from creating a reference that determines the final quality of a photograph, to setting up an on-site shooting, and completing a photo with a fantastic candidate.

Step 1 Understanding shooting

From how to maximize the functions of my camera, to understanding photo lighting and studio lighting, and further through the steps of preparing a reference for shooting I'm going to learn the essential elements you need to know in order to proceed with the shooting.

Step2 Studio lighting and calibration basics

You'll learn how to effectively express characters through horizon shooting, where people are photographed on the most basic white background.. You'll learn the know-how to create various atmospheres through various lighting settings and candidate selection methods even in one background, and simple CG effects, starting with basic correction that can be used in everyday life.

Step3 Outdoor lighting and synthesis basics

Did you know that the more you shoot outdoors, the more important the lighting settings are? You'll get to know outdoor photography through how to use lighting to create a creepy feeling and how to use natural light to create a bright atmosphere. You will also learn the basics of compositing through color and correction of two contrasting moods, how to synthesize objects evocative of Alice in Wonderland, and two-way synthesis for 1 person.

step4 Color lighting and composite application

Color lighting that is often used in toxic cosplay photography, but if used incorrectly, can even cover people - I will practice shooting with effective settings and learn how to use proper color lighting to make use of the atmosphere. Let's create action scenes through dynamic composition and composite source placement, and complete dynamic photos with advanced retouching methods.

Step5 Deepening lighting and synthesis

I'm going to shoot and edit Gumiho, the essence of Oriental fantasy, using all the elements I've learned so far. I'll raise the lighting & synthesis level even further with the use of color filters and light settings, Gumiho tail correction, which is a step of advanced synthesis, a light blur effect that adds a sense of dreaminess to the photo, and additional background compositing:)
